Measure for Delivery

To make things easy, all of our Product Description Pages provide two sets of dimensions:one for the product itself (to help you decide where to place the item in your space) andone for its box (so you can map out the pathway into your home).

Read on to learn how to find the rest of the measurements you’ll need.

Remember: you can unbox your item to help it fit. Just be sure to keep the packaging in case you need to make a return.

Start with your space

When it comes to fitting in the big things, you can’t forget about the little ones. Here are some details to look out for when finding a spot to park your new item.

Check your surroundings for things that may be obstructed (e.g. electrical outlets, low windows, door swing)
Measure the area for accessibility around your item, being mindful of other nearby pieces
Pro tip: To better visualize the furniture before delivery, use masking tape to outline its dimensions on the floor

Hallways

You’ve had to make a lot of decisions to get to this point. Why don’t you take a walk to clear your head? While you’re at it, take a peek at your hallways.

Note all hallways and sharp corners leading to the doorway
Measure the height, width, and depth of each
Measure diagonally to ensure there's enough room to tilt or rotate the box if needed

Elevators

If your delivery will be taking the elevator to your place, make sure you give it a quick (but accurate) measure for a smooth ride.

Measure the height and width of the door opening
Measure the interior depth (door to back wall) and width (side wall to side wall)
Measure the diagonal depth (bottom corner of the door to upper back corner of the elevator)
If your building has rules around deliveries and elevator usage, notify them in advance

Doorways

When it comes to doorways, the key is to measure very carefully — and then measure again. But we can’t tell you what to do (only strongly suggest it).

Measure the doorway’s height and width, and diagonally between the door jambs
Account for knobs/handles and how much the door swings
Remove the doors entirely from the frame if possible

Stairs

Stairs, famously, aren’t the easiest thing for sofas to navigate. So pay attention here.

Take measurements from the narrowest point (i.e. between the railings)
For low ceilings, measure the height from both the top and bottom steps
Measure the height and width of the landing, if you have one
Consider if you’ll need to tilt the box to clear the stairway, and measure the diagonal to see if it’ll be possible
